The Freak ONE Guilloché is a 2026 limited edition of 99 pieces that adds a hand-crafted guilloché-flinqué "Maille" diamond pattern to the Freak's rotating hour disc for the first time. It sits in a new 44mm full-titanium case, runs on the in-house UN-240 automatic calibre with a 90-hour power reserve, and retails for US$80,000.
When the original Freak launched in 2001, it was conceived by watchmaker and scientist Dr. Ludwig Oechslin under then-owner Rolf Schnyder. Instead of hands moving over a dial, the movement itself rotated to tell the time. It was also the first mechanical watch to use silicon components, a material choice that the rest of the Swiss industry would later adopt as a performance standard.
That is the Ulysse Nardin DNA: solve problems nobody else is attempting, then let the industry catch up. The Freak ONE, introduced in 2023, distilled the original concept into its purest modern form and won the Iconic Watch Prize at that year's Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève.
The groundbreaking move in 2026 is not a new material or mechanism. It is craft. The Freak's hour disc is not a dial. It is the barrel cover, part of the movement itself, and it completes one full rotation every 12 hours in place of an hour hand. Decorating a moving mechanical component this way had never been done on the Freak ONE.

The result is a quieter Freak. Against the satin-finished light-grey titanium and matching grey rubber strap, the neutral palette pulls your eye straight to the flying carousel movement at the center, which orbits the dial and acts as the minute hand.
The Freak ONE now comes in a full-titanium 44mm x 13.3mm case with a redesigned bezel inspired by the [Super] Freak. The notches are fewer and softer, making the watch more contemporary and wearable. Time is still set by rotating the bezel in either direction, with a safety lock at 6 o'clock, and the watch is wound by flipping it over and turning the caseback counterclockwise.
The Guilloché launched alongside a sibling, the Freak ONE Blue Enamel, also limited to 99 pieces at US$89,800. The Blue Enamel uses a white gold hour disc with a sunray pattern covered in grand feu blue enamel by Donzé Cadrans, Ulysse Nardin's in-house enamel workshop in Le Locle. If you want drama, choose the Blue Enamel. If you want understated texture that rewards a closer look, and a lower price, the Guilloché is the pick.
Ulysse Nardin could have celebrated 25 years of the Freak with something louder, faster or more futuristic. Instead, it looked backward to move forward. That is exactly why the brand keeps breaking ground: it stays loyal to the Freak's rule-breaking DNA while listening to what collectors have been asking for, a Freak with the soul of traditional haute horlogerie. With only 99 made, the Freak ONE Guilloché is likely to become a key reference for Freak collectors.
