The Angelus Chronographe Tachymètre is a 37mm monopusher chronograph with a grained gold-toned dial, black snailed counters and a base-1000 tachymeter scale. Powered by the manual-wind Calibre A5000 and operated through a single pusher in the crown, it's one of 2026's most compelling vintage-style chronographs for collectors.
What is the Angelus Chronographe Tachymètre? It is a compact, vintage-correct monopusher chronograph from Angelus, the Le Locle maison founded in 1891 by the Stolz brothers and known for its chronograph heritage. The watch measures 37mm across and just 9.25mm thick, proportions that are increasingly rare in modern chronographs. The dial is the star: a grained gold-toned surface, black snailed counters for running seconds (left) and a 30-minute chronograph register (right), and an outer tachymeter scale calibrated to base 1000 for measuring speed. Gold applied numerals, baton markers and lumed hands keep it highly legible. Inside is the manual-wind Calibre A5000, a monopusher chronograph with a column wheel and horizontal clutch. Start, stop and reset all run through one pusher set into the crown, keeping the case clean and symmetrical. The same movement architecture earned Angelus the Chronograph Prize at the 2025 Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG). Why collectors care: small-batch production, award-winning movement, and true 1940s chronograph proportions at a time when most chronographs are 40mm+.
Angelus monopusher chronographs are made in very small runs, often 10 to 25 pieces per version, and the A5000 movement's 2025 GPHG Chronograph Prize has raised collector demand. Comparable steel editions retail around $23,000+, and gold editions sit near $40,000, which makes early allocation the main challenge for buyers.
