The Ebel Sport Classic Chronograph 40mm (ref. 1216750) is a 2026 reissue of Ebel's early-1980s Sport Classic chronograph, made for the brand's 115th anniversary. It pairs a steel case and 18k yellow gold bezel with a white opaline dial and is limited to 115 numbered pieces.
What is the Ebel Sport Classic Chronograph 115th Anniversary? It is a limited-edition reissue of the Sport Classic chronograph Ebel made in the early 1980s, released in 2026 to mark 115 years since Eugène Blum and Alice Lévy founded the brand in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1911. Ref. 1216750 is the steel-and-gold version with a white opaline dial. The 40mm steel case carries Ebel's signature five-screw bezel in 18-karat 3N yellow gold and measures 11.6mm thick, which is notably slim for an automatic chronograph. It sits on the Sport Classic's wave-link bracelet in steel and yellow gold. The dial shows black Roman numerals, gold-tone counters and hands, a tachymeter scale, and a date window between 4 and 5 o'clock. Inside, visible through a sapphire caseback, is a Sellita SW300-1 automatic fitted with a Dubois Dépraz DD2222 chronograph module. Ebel released four versions of the anniversary chronograph: steel with a white or blue dial (refs. 1216748 and 1216749), and steel and gold with a white or blue dial (refs. 1216750 and 1216751). Each reference is limited to 115 individually numbered pieces, one for each year of Ebel's history.
Limited to 115 numbered pieces per reference, the Sport Classic Chronograph revives one of Ebel's best-known 1980s designs in its most recognizable form: two-tone steel and gold with a white dial. The original was powered by the Zenith El Primero, while the reissue uses a Sellita base with a Dubois Dépraz module. Collectors after the vintage movement may still prefer an original, but the reissue offers the classic look with modern reliability and a low production number.
