About This Release

The Fossil Signature CS-1 Master Calendar Chronoquartz (FSI2002) marks Fossil's return to Swiss watchmaking, pairing a robin's-egg blue sunray dial and black subdials with a Swiss Ronda 5040.F chronograph movement. The 42mm steel case shows day, date and month alongside a full chronograph, under domed sapphire, for $695.

Collector Note

Signature is Fossil's new premium platform, and CS-1, short for "Case Study One," is its first collection. The name nods to California's mid-century Case Study House architecture program, and that clean, optimistic modernism shapes the design. Every CS-1 watch is Swiss Made, built on Fossil's Swiss presence in Biel/Bienne going back to 2002. The Master Calendar Chronoquartz is the more complicated of the two launch models. Inside is a Swiss Ronda 5040.F, a 13-jewel quartz chronograph movement that drives a full triple calendar. Day and month show through windows below 12 o'clock, and a red-tipped central hand tracks the date around the outer chapter ring. Three recessed black subdials handle the chronograph, and a tachymeter scale runs around the inner ring. The FSI2002 is the standout colorway. A robin's-egg blue sunray dial with finely grooved, record-inspired texture contrasts with black circular-brushed subdials, and a blue-lined top pusher adds a signature detail. The 42mm stainless steel case wears a domed sapphire crystal and 50m water resistance, and the minted caseback carries Fossil's plated Triple Diamond Quality insignia. The black Italian leather strap has contrast stitching and a soft lambskin lining. The Master Calendar Chronoquartz comes in four versions: FSI2000 gold-tone with black dial, FSI2001 Sunset Orange on bracelet, FSI2002 Robin's Egg Blue on black leather, and FSI2003 reverse-panda on saddle brown leather. Leather versions are $695 and bracelet versions are $795. Fossil backs it with a 5-year limited warranty.

Collector Value

As a non-limited quartz watch, the FSI2002 is a wear-and-enjoy piece rather than an investment. Its value is in the specification: a Swiss Made triple calendar chronograph with domed sapphire and a 5-year warranty for $695. As the first-generation colorway of Fossil's Swiss Made comeback, the robin's-egg blue dial is the most distinctive of the four Master Calendar versions and the likeliest to be remembered as the collection's signature look.
