Brand: G-Shock | Model: GMC-2500 Multi-Mission Date | Reference: GMC-2500-1A | Category: Tool Watch / Analog G-Shock | Release Year: 2026
Last updated: October 23, 2026
The G-Shock GMC-2500-1A turns the 1983 DW-5000C, the very first G-Shock, into a fully analog watch with a stainless steel bezel, black dial and resin strap. Its new Multi-Mission Date window at 3 o'clock shows the date, stopwatch minutes and settings, with a small seconds subdial at 9. Price: USD 280.
What is it? The GMC-2500 is part of G-Shock's new 2500 series, a fully analog take on the original square DW-5000C. Collectors have nicknamed it the "CasioNaut" for its cushion case and octagonal bezel. The GMC-2500-1A is the core black-dial version, with a steel bezel and resin strap. What's new? Multi-Mission Date: a three-cell rolling window at 3 o'clock that shows the date, the mode, elapsed stopwatch minutes or setting info, depending on the function. Set the year, month and day once and the auto-calendar runs through 2099 with no manual date corrections. Why does it matter? The hands are held magnetically rather than press-fit to the shaft, so they can absorb hard impacts. That's a first for this layout. The small seconds hand at 9 o'clock can be put to sleep to save power, which extends battery life up to about five years. Which version should you buy? The GMC-2500-1A sits in the middle of the range. It's heavier and dressier than the USD 145 all-resin GAC-2500, and lighter than the USD 350 GMC-2500D on a steel bracelet. At 68 g, it's the sweet spot for most buyers. Is it tough? Yes. It's fully shock resistant, rated to 200m, and has LED illumination and a 1-second stopwatch.
This is a mass-production G-Shock, so expect wide availability and street prices at or below MSRP after launch, not secondary-market premiums. Early demand could be strong, since the 2500 series is the most-discussed G-Shock launch since the GA-2100 "CasiOak." Limited colorways and collaborations later in the series' life are where collectors usually see value. Buy this to wear: it's a tough, affordable analog G-Shock with a genuinely new date complication.
