About This Release

The Hanhart 417 ES Steve McQueen Limited Edition No. 1 (ref. H705L.210-2110) is the first officially licensed Steve McQueen watch from Hanhart, released in 2026 and limited to 300 pieces. It recreates the 39mm pilot's chronograph McQueen wore in private life and motorcycle racing, now with his signature on the dial, approved by his grandchildren.

Collector Note

For decades, collectors have called the Hanhart 417 ES "the Steve McQueen Hanhart." The King of Cool wore one in his private life and while racing motorcycles, and period photographs show it on his wrist on a dark brown cuff strap. Yet until now, every 417 ES reissue carried the association unofficially. The Limited Edition No. 1 changes that: it is the first 417 ES Hanhart has been licensed to sell under McQueen's name, created with input and approval from his grandchildren, Chase and Madison McQueen. The 417 ES first appeared in the mid-1950s as a pilot's chronograph for the German Bundeswehr, with "ES" standing for Edelstahl — German for stainless steel. The new edition stays true to the original's 39mm proportions, with a fluted bidirectional bezel and red marker, a matte black bi-compax dial, the historical Hanhart logo, Old Radium Super-LumiNova numerals, and hands with downturned tips to reduce parallax. McQueen's signature sits small and understated above 6 o'clock. Inside is the hand-wound AMT5100 M column-wheel flyback chronograph from AMT, Sellita's high-end division, visible for the first time in a 39mm 417 ES through a sapphire caseback. The famous red reset pusher, here in red HyCeram, completes the look. The presentation set includes a Shell Cordovan cuff strap modeled on McQueen's own, a numbered plaque, a booklet, a bottle of red nail polish nodding to the red-pusher legend, and a certificate styled after McQueen's 1964 racing license, signed by his grandchildren.

Collector Value

Is the Hanhart 417 ES Steve McQueen official? Yes. Collectors informally called the 417 ES "the Steve McQueen Hanhart" for years, but this is the first officially licensed edition with his name, signature and family approval. That official status, a 300-piece run and a full presentation set make it the most desirable modern 417 ES. At $3,570, it is also one of the most accessible ways to own a watch with a documented Steve McQueen connection, compared with his Heuer Monaco and Rolex associations.
