The NOMOS Metro Date Power Reserve Ice Blue (ref. 1121) is a 2026 update of the brand's award-winning Metro, pairing a metallic ice-blue dial with the new hand-wound DUW 4701 calibre. It is the first NOMOS watch to use the DUW 4701, which adds a quick-set date and a 52-hour power reserve.
What is the NOMOS Metro Date Power Reserve Ice Blue? It is the 2026 version of the Metro Date Power Reserve, the model Berlin designer Mark Braun created for NOMOS in 2014. The original was also the first NOMOS watch to use the brand's in-house Swing System escapement. The new ref. 1121 keeps Braun's asymmetric layout, with the power reserve indicator near 1 o'clock, the NOMOS logo at 9, and the small seconds and date stacked at 6. The metallic ice-blue dial shifts from pale blue toward near-white depending on the light. Teal hour dots, grey Arabic minute numerals, and a three-color power reserve display in teal, light blue, and white complete the look. The bigger news is inside. Ref. 1121 debuts the DUW 4701, a new in-house hand-wound calibre based on the DUW 4601. It measures 32.1mm by 2.8mm and adds a quick-set date and a 52-hour power reserve, up from 42 hours on the original DUW 4401. The sapphire caseback shows Glashütte ribbing, perlage, golden engravings, temperature-blued screws, and the blue Swing System hairspring. The case remains a slim 37mm by 8mm in polished steel, with wire lugs, a domed sapphire crystal, and 50m water resistance. It comes on a black Horween Shell Cordovan leather strap. NOMOS also released a matching Metro Neomatik 41 Update Ice Blue (ref. 1166) alongside this watch.
Ref. 1121 is the first watch to use NOMOS's new DUW 4701 hand-wound calibre, which adds a quick-set date and 10 hours more power reserve than the original DUW 4401. That makes it a meaningful upgrade to one of the brand's best-known designs. It is not a limited edition, but as the debut of a new in-house movement, it is a strong pick for collectors of German watchmaking and modern design-led dress watches.
