About This Release

The URWERK UR-300 Time Quantum launches an all-new collection in which a T-shaped frame of hour prisms jumps forward and completely reconfigures itself at the top of every hour, replacing the brand's classic gliding satellites. This Titan edition in natural Grade 5 titanium is limited to 25 pieces, runs on the new automatic calibre UR-30.01V, and is priced at CHF 168,000 before taxes.

Collector Note

The UR-300 Time Quantum is URWERK's first entirely new collection and movement in years, unveiled in Geneva on October 15, 2026. Co-founders Felix Baumgartner (master watchmaker) and Martin Frei (artistic director) built it around a quantum-mechanics theme: instead of satellites orbiting on a carousel, two linked hour modules move in mirrored symmetry and change state all at once, a mechanical nod to quantum entanglement. How to read the time: two double-ended hour modules are mounted at right angles to form a "T" (T for Time). Each end carries a three-sided hour prism, so four prisms cover all 12 hours. The prism at the base of the T shows the current hour and travels along a 108-degree arc marked 0 to 60 minutes. A separate scale uses three hands to display seconds in 20-second segments across 120 degrees. The hourly jump: when the base of the T reaches the 60-minute mark, the entire frame jumps forward and rotates 72 degrees. The crossbar pivots to become the new stem at the zero-minute mark, the old stem becomes the new crossbar, and every prism spins so the next hour appears. Where URWERK's previous signature was the retrograde snap, from the 2005 Opus V for Harry Winston to the 2024 UR-150 Scorpion, the UR-300 introduces an instantaneous forward jump. Movement: the new calibre UR-30.01V is automatic, with winding regulated by URWERK's patented Dual Flow Turbines. It has 40 jewels, beats at 4 Hz (28,800 vph), uses a double mainspring barrel, and delivers a 44-hour power reserve. The hour mechanism is a patent-pending modular planetary complication controlled by cam, rack and spring and indexed by a Maltese cross. Hour modules use beryllium copper, brass and anodized aluminum. Case: Grade 5 titanium measuring 45.2 mm x 58.8 mm x 18.25 mm, with sapphire crystals, crown at 12 o'clock, an articulated strap attachment at 6 o'clock for wrist comfort, and 30 m water resistance. It is delivered on a NATO strap. Editions: Titan (natural titanium, 25 pieces) and AlTiN (titanium with PE-CVD treatment, 25 pieces), each CHF 168,000 before taxes, available through URWERK retailers. At this price the UR-300 sits at the top of URWERK's regular catalogue and is aimed at collectors of avant-garde independent horology rather than classical dress watches.

Collector Value

With only 25 Titan pieces and 25 AlTiN pieces, the UR-300 is one of URWERK's smallest runs for a brand-new collection, and first editions of a new URWERK movement architecture historically draw the strongest collector interest. Deployant notes that URWERK pieces typically retain around 80 percent of retail on the secondary market, with high-demand models such as the UR-120 "Spock" trading above retail. The natural titanium Titan and the darker AlTiN will likely appeal to different collectors, so compare both before buying.
